Music has always been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. From pre-school up until high school, I was always involved in musicals and my schools choir. However, I didn’t really begin to notice until I picked up the keyboard. I got my first keyboard around the age 10 and I completely fell in love. I learned to play by ear and my family quickly began to take notice of my musical talents. Thereafter, I received a keyboard each year as one of my birthday presents from various relatives. It got to the point where I no longer had much space for them as my closet was beginning to get full (yes it’s still full).

I loved my first instrument dearly, but towards the end of elementary school I knew the real instrument that I wanted to master was the guitar. I used to be in my school band back then playing the clarinet but our music teacher was a guitarist. I thought that was the coolest thing in the world, and I had always vowed to her that I would learn one day one my own, and I did. People always told me that I was very good and when I mustered up the courage to sing in front of them as well, they always told me that I had something special. It’s easier to hear that from someone else than to believe it yourself, and for a while I was on the fence about it. You see, I didn’t always have the courage and belief in my own talents to be able to perform solo in front of people, but one day it hit me. I had an epiphany and that little voice said “Errone, you didn’t just wake up like this. You have a God given talent and there’s no way He doesn’t want you to use it somehow. Get out there.” So I did. I forced myself to break out of my shell, preformed a few times in front of a club I was in, in college, sang and played some originals at a local park and watched a little crowd gather, and put myself out there on social media. I was amazed at all of the positive responses I got back from people and it was awesome to see that they enjoyed listening to me!

When I found out about Mobstar it was even better! I always wished that someone out there in the universe would create an app for talents specifically and boy did that come to pass! Mobstar is that extra push that all people with great talents needed and I’m so happy that I’m a part of it. This site helped me grow and gain a lot more confidence that I needed and for that; this ex-shy girl, turned confident rockstar thanks you!

What did you want to be when you grew up? From childhood, whether it was wanting to be a firefighter, astronaut, or the President, we all had that picture perfect idea of what we wanted to be when we were finally grown ups. I wanted to be a singer because for as long as I can remember, I’ve been in love with music. It wasn’t until later on in my teenage years I began to teach myself how to song write and to play the piano and guitar, but for the most part, I had this glamorous image in my head of singing on tv and rocking out in sold out arenas all over the world.

But As I got older, and reality sunk in, almost everyone around me decided to take the more practical approach and stray away from those childish fantasies. I personally don’t come from a financially stable family, but I grew up in a predominantly middle and upper class area, so everyone could afford to go off to expensive colleges after high school. I, on the other hand, had to settle for working full-time and going to a community college while my friends went off to be doctors and teachers. But when you’re blessed with a beautiful voice and the passion to want make music, school shouldn’t really affect you…at least that’s what I told myself when I dropped out of community college. School’s not for everyone, especially those who intend on booking small gigs and getting their hands on as much as experience as possible until they make it to the big stage.

Ever since I was little, I sang in school choirs, assemblies and sporting events. I never really realized how talented I was until I started playing instruments to accompany myself. People have always complemented me on my voice, but they really started to notice when I began writing my own music. I love almost every genre of music, but listening to artists such as Gavin DeGraw, Ed Sheeran and John Mayer made me want to pursue the singer-songwriter route.

The way that they were able to take their life experiences and turn them into a melody was appealing to me, and I wanted to take my own life experiences and turn it into my own melody.
I can’t imagine myself doing any other line of work, and although pursing a career in music is an emotional roller coaster filled with ridiculous highs and lows, I wouldn’t trade this craft for anything else. As I continue my lyrical journey on the way to the top, I’m so excited to share my love of music with MobStar. In this day and age, social media plays a huge role in introducing people to new artists from all over the world. MobStar is an awesome app that specifically allows you to share your talent, and I love it!

I can’t wait to see where it takes me!

Now that MobStar is live and cranking on iTunes and Google Play, the most common question we are getting is: “What do I do now to get noticed by the industry and mentors?” That answer is easy: complete your profile and bio and start to build out your fan base on MobStar.

Every video that is posted has a Share button and a Follow button which will allow you to build your fan base and maximize the power of Mobstar for our future contesting, crowdfunding, and mentoring. We allow you to share each video across Facebook, Google, and Twitter as well as email.

We will be launching our first Music competition later this year, but in the meantime we have a Follow promotion going which will grant any talent the possibility of receiving mentorship and discovery. There will be 3 tiers with rewards available to EVERYONE. Once contesting begins, only finalists are guaranteed mentoring so jump in and get started ASAP. Here are the tiers in more detail:

5,000 Followers – Receive a “Verified” Profile: Verified Profiles will be listed earlier when new fans come and search via tags or genre – a great way to expand your fan base to new fans who are searching for music like yours.

10,000 Followers – Receive a feature interview on, have your videos featured on our YouTube Page, sponsored marketing across all social media and any press opportunities that arise.

20,000 Followers – Receive mentoring feedback on one full length song from our mentor team. As an artist, this is truly a priceless opportunity and only available in the future for talent who advances in our competitions once they launch in February.

Good Luck,
The MobStar Team

MobStar is the confidence booster that every hardworking musician needs. It is so exciting and rewarding, to share your music with people you have never met, and be exposed to honest and raw reaction from the public. It’s just what I needed to recharge my batteries. Just the same, it is equally as encouraging to see the amazing talent of those from around the world. A reminder that music is universal, and that it brings us together. Personally, as a member of the music for life club, MobStar helps to build me up. Having access to incredible mentors and their feedback is something that I have always longed for. I love this app. I am thankful to be a part. And I am very excited to see how it continues to grow!

Mobstar is an awesome concept that will showcase real and unedited talent. This platform has the potential to bridge the gap between inspiring artists and the music industry. It’s real easy to use and we can’t wait to see where it’ll take us!

When I first saw the actual interface with Mobstar I had to catch my breath. After 40 years in the music business searching for and nurturing talent, the idea that Mobstar could find a way to give dreamers, singers, writers and people who dare to think, act, or dress funny an audience is nothing less than a game changer.

Without fear, young artists can seek judgement without humiliation and grow with guidance and confidence miles and miles from the nearest record label, comedy club or fashion house. With the playing field leveled, talent will find a way to prevail with the help of a smartphone.

I am proud to be a part of a global team with the vision to reduce years and years of auditions in merciless conditions to an opportunity to build your own community of like minded people. If you already know you can’t not do what you dream to do, then Mobstar beckons.

You can shine the light on you.

…a 12 year old kid from Texas. Colby uploaded a clip to MobStar yesterday filmed by his mom as part of our School of Rock beta test programme. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to see his and everyone’s clips yesterday. Goosebumps, Wow.

It took me back to when I started playing guitar in my bedroom, how I dreamt of becoming a rock star, touring the world, playing music for a living. How could I make that happen because I knew somehow I had to make it happen.

I did it the old fashioned way, signing to Geffen Records in Los Angeles, recording, touring, doing what I loved to do. That was back when being a musician was a viable career option because there was a business you could wrap around your talent. Today things are very different and only the very smart ones survive.

MobStar is something I wanted to build for a very long time but smartphone adoption wasn’t available to access Global Talent until now. Colby represents the reason why we built MobStar, so every talent on the planet with access to a smartphone can upload their talent and be seen by millions of fans and industry leading mentors. Yesterday Colby was seen by a Smashing Pumpkin, Head of Warners, Universal Music, simply by uploading a 15 second video. How cool…

X Factor, American Idol, these humiliating, outdated TV platforms are not your only option. Do you feel your talent is on a par or better than your Idols? If it is we’re here to listen to offer feedback and let you have the opportunity for the World to give you feedback in real time, build your fan base to push your popularity up. Show us what you got because the spotlight is now on you.

I’ve been in the music/entertainment business for 30 years and I’ve never found it to be fair. It’s always been one-sided. Huge labels with teams of lawyers working to squeeze every last drop from the artist. You sign your life away for a few points. Less than 1% break through. Companies like Spotify pay you less than 1 cent in the dollar. Not the best of odds so why would you do it? Because you love it, it’s your passion, you just have to, that’s why. We get that bit. And they never call you back. I know. I know. Can’t tell you how many times I sat with my band making tapes (yes tapes) to send to labels all over the World to just get that 1 page generic letter saying sorry. It’s a walled garden, even today but we just broke that wall down.

It doesn’t have to be hard. If you win you receive a Publishing, Touring, Recording, Merchandising, Management deal with the World’s leading brands who can assist you to build a long term career. Something that would take you years to achieve is at your fingertips. And here’s the thing – you don’t have to win to be picked up. Just make it into the top 100 monthly and you’re getting mentored by experts all over the world. If that doesn’t happen, you can crowdfund and further your talent and keep competing every month.

We’ve created a level playing field that breaks down barriers to entry for authentic talent so you’re in with a shot to get discovered. To date talents upload to YouTube, Vine etc with a hope of being discovered out of the mass mess of content.

“If you want to be cool, don’t come here. If you want to create a career, become iconic, please come see us.”

That’s our message out to talents. We’re here to assist, to show you how this industry works and fails. We woke up to a bunch of mails from kids asking us “how can they get in contact with the mentors on MobStar”. It’s easy, upload your talent on your smartphone, get your friends to vote and if you’re good enough your talent will rise. You can actually A&R yourself because of our global voting and data we can show you what works and what doesn’t.

Web Summit named us in the top 10 companies showcasing this year, taking people through the platform for two days was such an eye opener, watching the lightbulb moment when they get it or having a Smashing Pumpkin (a band I idolised growing up) tell me that “This is the missing link in music” acknowledges that what we’re doing is correct and perfect timing so we’re kinda proud of what we’ve developed to date. Lots more to build…

If you have time please sign up for beta at

We would love to get your feedback before we go live.

You don’t have to be a talent to sign up, sign up as a voyeur, a fan, help us champion, support and discover amazing new talents around the World that would never get the opportunity to be seen.

Thank you and best of luck,

Brendan Morrissey
